I’m author A. P. Sylvia. I’ve always been fascinated by supernatural beliefs and stories. I find that delving into the folklore of the past provides a window into how people have interpreted the world around them. My main focus for a number of years has been vampire accounts. I explore how our modern notions about vampires compare to actual folkloric beliefs in my book, Vampires of Lore: Traits and Modern Misconceptions. My writing has also appeared in the Journal of Vampire Studies and SmallStateBigHistory.com.

In this blog, I share some of the unique locations I have visited, along with any lore surrounding them. Some may have elaborate stories, while others might just have a reputation for being spooky. Either way, it’s always a fun trip. My main focus here is on New England, but that doesn’t mean I won’t venture further afield. Naturally, wherever I go, I always endeavor to treat the sites with respect and follow any applicable laws or posted rules.
